Why does urgency make me feel good?

There are those who anticipate… and the others. Those who only work in a hurry. Are you one of those people who, when faced with a problem, always start at the last minute?

« This time, I’m going for it! I’m taking the bull by the horns, I’m doubling my efforts, I’m turning my phone off and I’ll drink four strong coffees because tonight, for sure, I’m going to beat it up… « .
Do you recognise yourself in this statement?

« I work better under pressure »

But do you really work better under pressure?

Adrenaline, also known as the hormone epinephrine, is a natural hormone that will enhance our abilities to make us more physically and mentally powerful in a fight or flight response to stress.

This is exactly what ‘chronic latecomers’ do by waiting until the very last minute to take action: they put themselves in danger of failing to ‘deliver’ in time and challenge themselves to do so! « If I succeed, I’m sooo good! «

A hectic pace of life gives the impression that more can be achieved. Unfortunately, adrenaline destroys the body’s natural ability to perform in the long run.

Hustle and bustle is the smoke screen that hides our deepest priorities that we don’t want to face because of fear of failure or boredom.

Did you know that through meditation you can reconnect with your deepest motivations and master your addiction to adrenaline?

« Hard work doesn’t always pay off, but hard work always pays off at least a little. » Fabien Olicard
